One of the great orchestral trumpet players currently performing in the USA is David Bilger, principal trumpet of the Philadelphia Orchestra.  His playing exemplifies everything we strive for as trumpet players.  Listen and learn from a master!

R.I.P. Lew Soloff

One of the greatest trumpet players of all-time, Lew Soloff, passed away last night. Famous for the iconic trumpet work in the band Blood Sweat & Tears, Lew could play anything on the trumpet with fire, panache, and soul. Over his career he worked with many great bands (Machito, Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Carnegie Hall Jazz Band, etc.), great artists (Aretha Franklin, Paquito D’Rivera, Tony Bennett, Wayne Shorter, Frank Sinatra, etc.), and on many film soundtracks. He was one of my personal favorite trumpet players and will be missed greatly.

Trumpet fundamentals clinic on 10/5/13 at Melk Music!

Area band directors…….I’m presenting an informal masterclass on trumpet fundamentals at Melk Music Inc. this Saturday, Oct. 5th at 1:00pm. While I’m gearing it towards middle-school level students, high-school students will get something out of it too! It’s FREE and I won’t take more than 90 minutes of your time. Tell your students to bring their trumpet!

More information can be found at Melk Music’s website or Facebook event page.
